High School March Madness Hits Full Stride

Local schools competing this week in state, regional tournaments

Several local girls' and boys' basketball teams are competing in either state or regional tournaments this week.  Follow all the tournament action from both Ohio and Kentucky at hacksports.com.

MND, Little Miami Advance To Ohio Girls' State Final Four

Mount Notre Dame in Division I and Little Miami in Division II both advanced to the Ohio state basketball girls' Final Four by winning regional title games over the weekend. The Panthers play Mentor Lake Catholic this Friday at 1 p.m. while the Cougars take on Pickerington Central at 6 p.m. Both games are  at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Covington Catholic Wins Boys' Ninth Region Title

Covington Catholic won the boys' Ninth Region title for the second time in the last three years and for the eighth time in school history with a 61-50 win over Newport Central Catholic on Saturday night. (read story). The Colonels will play Third Region champion Apollo in the first round this Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.

Ninth Region Girls' Final Four Tonight At Holmes High School

The girls move back into the spotlight in the Ninth Region with semifinal action set for tonight. Boone County plays Holy Cross at 6:05 p.m. followed by Notre Dame-Newport at 7:50 p.m. The winners advance to the championship game tomorrow night at 7:05 with a berth in the state tournament in Bowling Green, Ky., March 22-25 on the line.
