Winton Woods put the “W” in
Warrior
Winton Woods
demolished Kings for their 4th win of the season
by Bret Sims
Winton Woods’ junior RB Jeremiah
Goins started the scoring and ended the scoring for the Warriors
on touchdown runs of 40-yards or more. Goins would score three
more TD’s in between as he lead his team in a convincing 55-21
win over FAVC foe Kings.
Some were worried that the Warriors
might look past the Knights to next weeks matchup with defending
state champion and division foe the Anderson Redskins but coach
Troy Everhart made sure that his team was well focused.
“We came out and pounded the
football tonight, which is what we wanted to do”, said Everhart
which could be the understatement of the year when one considers
the fact that Winton Woods racked up 584-yards rushing against
Kings’ defense.
The Warriors return 17 starters from last season, many of them
being inked for Division I colleges, as they are off to their
best start since 2005. They say you can’t teach speed and speed
is definitely one thing they have as a team as Kings’ head coach
Andy Olds could attest. “The speed at which they play is
something that you can’t duplicate…you have to see it to
actually believe it at this level”, said Olds.
When asked if he were already
thinking ahead to the matchup with Anderson, Everhart responded
by saying “I’m going to enjoy this one first and then get back
to work on Monday.”
Kings lost their third consecutive
game of the season, the longest losing streak in the 11-year
coaching history for coach Olds.
